Leveraging the many teachers and coaches who participate in the Japanese American basketball leagues, NBHA formed an education subcommittee to create a NBHA coaches curriculum. With the many new volunteer coaches being recruited by the youth organizations, NBHA’s curriculum will create a solid foundation for new coaches to learn coaching best practices including addressing behavior issues and education of the history of Japanese American basketball.
NBHA pilot programs will work in partnership with the JAO girls’ basketball program, OCO, JETS, AFMC, and Sabers and start with the youngest participants (kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade). NBHA’s goal is to expand its coaching curriculum program, while instituting leadership development for youth in hopes of creating new leaders for our basketball programs.
